Director Position Open at the Institute of International Relations in Taiwan
The Institute of International Relations (IIR) of
Founded in 1953, IIR is Taiwan's leading research institute of International Relations and China Studies, with 40 research fellows specializing in Taiwan-China relations, Chinese politics, Asian regionalism, European integration, China-US relations, East Asian security, and international law. The Institute publishes four top-rated academic journals, including Issues & Studies, Wenti yu Yanjiu (Chinese), Mainland China Studies (Chinese), and Montai to Kenkyu (Japanese).
As the chief executive of the Institute, the Director exercises academic leadership, and holds administrative and supervisory responsibilities. Successful candidates are expected to acquire the following requirements:
1. The capacity of a full professor (or a research fellow) with the NCCU tenure; an applicant or nominee without such capacity is required to go through the formal recruiting process and attain the NCCU tenure before the official appointment as the Director;
2. A distinguished record of academic research in the field of International Relations or China Studies;
3. Prior experiences of a department chair or a school-level institute director;
4. A strong sense of vision for the development of the Institute;
5. A record of dedicated engagement in professional activities;
6. Substantial administrative experiences in a complex organization;
7. Effective interpersonal and inter-departmental communication.
