Faculty Vacancies in the Department of Journalism, NCCU

One of the most prestigious leading institutions of higher learning in the Asia-Pacific region, the National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taipei, Taiwan, is solidly grounded in social sciences, humanities and arts with an aim to cultivating intellectual and artistic creativity. The Department of Journalism now invites applications and nominations for the posts of Professors/Associate Professors/Assistant Professors in one or any combination of the following specialization areas:
1.Future trend of convergence in media or news industries
2.News and information content processing (including sociology, linguistics, psychology, etc.)
3.Practice & production of professional journalism, and creative media industries
4.Message design (visual communication, aesthetics, design, and photography, etc.)
5.Media management and knowledge management (e.g., management information system, economics, business administration, technology and innovation management)
6.International communication and global development

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting research, and supervising graduate theses as well as contributing to administration or services of the department, college, and university. Rank and salary shall be commensurate with the appointee's academic qualifications, current position, and professional experience in accordance with the conditions of service laid out by the Ministry of Education and National Chengchi University. Appointment shall commence on August 1, 2009.

Qualifications: A PhD degree in broadcast journalism/digital communication or relevant specializations is essential. Applicants should possess expertise in one or more of the following areas: Online journalism, Digital TV, and New Media production (Animation, Graphic Design, Photography, Web Design, Desktop Publishing, Digital Video Production, and Visual Communication). Ability to also teach "concept-oriented courses" offered by the Department will be an advantage. Relevant business and industry experiences are additional advantages. Candidates with demonstrated teaching and research excellence will receive very positive consideration. Applicants should be fluent in English with ability to lecture in Chinese desirable. Collegiality is a must.

NCKU Position openings for Tenure Track Faculty

The Department of Industrial and Information Management at National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, R.O.C., invites applications for one faculty position, generally at the Assistant Professor level, to begin on Aug. 1, 2009. Applicants should have a PhD degree in industrial engineering related field.
The applicant must be fluent in Chinese (Mandarin). The primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting academic research, supervising graduate students, and participating in departmental activities.

MBE-Taiwan 2009 Call for Papers

Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) Technology has been playing the important role for the advancement of Quantum Physics, Material Sciences, Photonic, as well as Nano Science and Technology.

The MBE-Taiwan Conference is intended to provide a forum for domestic and overseas researchers to exchange information and ideas on the latest MBE technology development. Since first debut in 2004, this annual Conference has attracting broad spectrum of participants from Academics, Research & Development Institutes, and Industries fields.
