MOE launches database for international students in Taiwan

The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced on August 12, 2010 the launch of a database management system for international students studying in Taiwan

The system uses cloud computing technology, stocks information on foreign students in Taiwan to reduce the administrative work of university staff.

As Taiwan universities recruit more foreign students each year, said Liu Ching-jen, head of the Bureau of International Cultural and Educational Relations, there is a need for a unified database system among universities to facilitate information retrieval.

The new system makes it easier to update information for both school staff and the National Immigration Agency, which will be notified of any change in student records, Liu said.
